AIMS beachAustralia's ocean territory is the largest, most diverse and potentially most valuable, yet least understood, of all our natural assets.

The Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) was established by the Commonwealth government in 1972 to generate the knowledge needed for the sustainable use and protection of the marine environment through innovative, world-class scientific and technological research.

AIMS is also actively engaged in transferring technologies it develops to the commercial sector. In 1993 AIMS started development of the patented WetPC® Technologies for use in-house, in 1998 it signed a licence agreement which gives WetPC Pty Ltd the exclusive rights to exploit the technologies for world markets.

WetPC P/L is a privately owned research company whose directors are former employees of AIMS.
